Is A Charcoal Grill better Than Gas?

Charcoal or gas is the age-old deliberate upon amongst grillers the world over and it may never be resolved. Though a charcoal grill is the traditional grilling method, advancements have made gas grills much more favorite over the past two decades. Charcoal has some benefits but from a convenience standpoint, gas is right on the way to go, as many grillers will tell you.

A major advantage of charcoal grilling, in the eyes of some, is the smoked flavor that it provides to food. Charcoal speedily sears the food it is cooking, creating an surface that is caramelized and crusty, delivering a smoky flavor. Some habitancy do not like this, so they prefer to cook with gas because the propane does not enumerate any flavor onto the food.

Gas Grill

When cooking with charcoal, it is very difficult to operate the cooking temperature because once those briquettes get hot, they stay hot. This often requires chefs to originate empty spaces on the lower grill grate so they can initially cook the food on the hot spots and then Move it to the cooler parts. With gas grills, the cook naturally turns down the temperature dial.

Is A Charcoal Grill better Than Gas?

Charcoal grills make a lot of mess with their burning briquettes that emit smoke and leave ash. Gas grills want only to be turned off and furnish the grates with an occasional cleaning using a metal brush. If items are cooked on foil, there is often no mess, making the whole process even more convenient.

Aside from smoky flavor, charcoal grills are often more portable, but there indubitably are no other advantages over the gas versions. Though gas might cost more, the time saved during the cooking process and money saved due to not having to buy briquettes make up for it. Pass by the charcoal grillers in the store and instead adopt gas.

The Weber movable Gas Grill Q 100 - A First-Hand report

After having Moved from a house with a backyard to an apartment building, I had to find a grill I could use in my new living space. So, I started my study for an alternative to my charcoal grill. I found online some great reviews for the Weber Q 100 portable Gas Grill and decided to give it a try.

I had my doubts whether my food was going to be as tasty as the one grilled on charcoal but, as it turned out to be, my concerns were out of place.

Gas Grill

First of all it's very well made and sturdy. The grill has a heavy cast iron grate unlike some cheaper grills you can find on the market, that have thin grates. The grill exterior is not that big but it's adequate for a family of four.

The Weber movable Gas Grill Q 100 - A First-Hand report

The grill heats up wonderfully and the heat is even. Every food we have made on the grill tasted great and you get a nice sear after some 6-8 minutes of preheat. The food gets done quite quickly so get a stop Watch to monitor the grilling time.

I was a limited involved about the gas tanks that this grill operates on (I never used one in my life) but it's absolutely a no-brainer. I hooked my grill up to a 5 lb propane tank (and it lasted for quite a while), but I have read that some citizen use larger gas tanks with an Adapter hose.

The grill is so much easier to control than a charcoal grill. It ignites at the push of a button and has a regulator to control the heat.

Since I hate cleaning my grill, I found it to be very helpful (and later read the same thing from other grill users) using the aluminum foil on the inside of the grill. So I clean the grill in no time. Furthermore you can use a foil tray for the drip pan as well.

I use someone else trick that saves me some cleanup: I brush the grill or the meat with oil so the food doesn't stick so much. I found the book you get with the grill to be most helpful. It had some great instructions and tips, especially the grilling time charts. Since I'm using this grill so much I bought the folding cart for this model too. It's such a great accessory to the grill. I advise you get a grill brush as well.

I have to say I'm absolutely enthusiastic about this grill. It's absolutely worth every penny I paid (the price is not that high though). I forgot my old charcoal grill one of the reasons being the fact that the Weber Q 100 is so much easier to use. You can prepare your food in no time and, what's leading to me, you don't have to have a backyard at your disposal. Of procedure if you are planning a barbecue party then you should get a larger one. The Q 100 is ideal for a family of four (like mine) or if you're single, and if you don't have a join of hours to grill. Most of the times, when I get from work, I just Light my grill and have a great meal in 20 minutes.

2. Be Patient, only flip your meat once

This step is crucial to cooking your meat nice and even. It can take a dinky time and custom to get right, but once you have it dialed in it makes all the contrast in the world. There is nothing more disheartening then seeing out that your beautiful rib eye is well done one side and bloody rare on the other.

3. Never, ever cut into the meat

This is probably the single most foremost thing to know when it comes to cooking tips for the gas grill. It is also the most coarse mistake. Do yourself a favor and learn to temp your meat without slicing into it. Once you make that incision you are just releasing all the juices. These juices are where all the flavor comes from.

*side note: The best way to learn how to temp meat without cutting into it is this: Take the tip of your thumb and touch it against each of the fingertips on the same hand. Don't push with any pressure, just touch them together. While touching each finger feel your hand at the base of your thumb (the same hand you are touching finger and thumb with). The firmness of this muscle represents a dissimilar temp for each finger. The temps are as follows:

Index Finger - Rare
Middle Finger - Medium Rare
Ring Finger - Medium
Pinky Finger - Well

4. Keep the lid closed

This also lends itself to a much more uniform temp when cooking meat. If the lid is permanently open it cools the air and troops the grates to do all the cooking. This leads to the meat becoming well done on the covering before it has a opportunity to cook inside.

5. all the time wait 10-20 minutes after you take the meat off the grill before you serve it

This technique will lock in the juices and give them a opportunity to disperse back into the meat. This means when you cut into the meat to eat it, all the juices won't just flow out onto the plate where they do you no good.

If you consequent these easy cooking tips for gas grills you will be the hit of the next barbeque for sure!
